meet Krish - he hopes to one day start a shelter where other street youth can sleep and be safe at night.
Living on the strets of Kathmandu, Nepal since he was nine, 18-year-old Krish was able to channel his artistic talents into a small business after receiving training through Street Kids International’s Street Business course.
After participating in the interactive training, Krish began working to introduce 'glow candles' to the Nepali marketplace.
An artist at heart, Krish develops new candle designs and accommodates custom orders. The glow candle business is part of a new initiative that allows street youth who have participated in Street Business training to try new business ideas in a supported environment. Youth get the chance to practice a business, act like mentors to other youth and in doing so gain confidence in their business skills.
Krish can now afford to share a room with a few other youth, and spends some nights off the streets.
More recently Krish attended Street Banking training, and learned business improvement and savings techniques. He hopes to one day start a shelter where other street youth can sleep and be safe at night.
