For me it started a few years ago in Cuzco, Peru: I met a young man, perhaps 12 or so, who shined shoes for a living. I gave him some cash, not knowing how I could otherwise assist him. It was frustrating to meet someone with such potential, whose future, compared to North Americans’ was so limited.
Last year I learned about Street Kids International, an organization that helps street youth to earn a living in healthy and effective ways. Their mission is “give street kids every where a chance”
