a picture is worth a thousand words…
Sonam, age 15. Kahmandu, Nepal
Sonam has a great smile and an equally memorable personality. Sonam has lived on the streets for as long as he can remember. His drawings depict aspects of the beauty he sees in his country, contrasted with elements of the life he has experienced on the streets.
From paper to print: collaborations between street kids around the world and Canadian photographers.
Inspired by the desire to create a unique storytelling collaboration through the power of art, Drawn To Develop features stories brought to life from the eyes of street kids through the lenses of photographers. In the spring of 2008, Drawn To Develop engaged youth workers from Toronto-based Street Kids International to collect drawings from youth across the globe depicting their daily lives. Drawn to Develop is challenging Canada's top photographers to take these drawings and create an original print that encapsulates the story.
These unique prints will be auctioned off at a charity gala on October 16th, 2008 at the Fermenting Cellar in Toronto's historic Distillery District. All proceeds raised by the auction will go towards Street Kids International.
This will enable them to have greater reach through their programs as they continue to empower and educate street kids to transform their lives.
By joining us at Drawn To Develop's gala event, you will become part of a uniquely creative collaboration, tying together stories from experience to expression to engagement. Be part of the story …
