Street Kids International periodically seeks volunteers to work at our offices in Toronto, Canada and the UK. The availability and type of work varies throughout the year.

volunteer in Canada

We are looking for TWO volunteers who are motivated and have a general interest in international development, business, and the non-profit sector. Volunteers are needed for the following positions:

Admin (2-10 hr/week)

A volunteer is needed to help out with general and fundraising administrative duties in the office. Volunteer must have excellent Microsoft Office skills and general office administrative skills.

Admin volunteer activities include:

  • database management
  • proofreading and editing
  • spreadsheet analysis
  • assistance with events

Social Media and Web Marketing (2-5 hrs/week)

This position allows the volunteer to work from home with the exception of occasional update meetings. Home access to email and Internet is a requirement. Volunteer has a strong understanding and appreciation of social media and social networking technologies as it pertains to the non-profit sector. PR experience is an asset.

Social media volunteer activities include:

  • monitoring and updating Street Kids International’s presence on the web including existing Facebook and Twitter accounts
  • promotion of Street Kids International’s activities and programs
  • researching and implementing collaboration opportunities, search ranking and relevancy, blogs and wiki content

Rambling Rat PR, Media Volunteer

(1-2 volunteers, 4-6 hrs/week)

volunteer activities include:

  • Creating and maintaining a RamblingRat press kit.
  • Writing and distributing press releases.
  • Building media contacts in the UK and along RamblingRat expedition routes and setting up opportunities for coverage of the expedition.
  • Developing product sponsorship opportunities for RamblingRat expeditions and fundraising opportunities for Street Kids International.
  • Researching and managing joint PR opportunities for RamblingRat, Street Kids International and Sponsor Companies.
  • Supporting the management of RamblingRat presence online including RamblingRat website, Facebook, You Tube, Twitter accounts.

  • Confident communicator, verbally and in written form.
  • Media and PR experience.
  • Social media experience an advantage.
  • An interest in international development an advantage.
  • Knowledge of expedition life and/or overland vehicles an advantage.

This is a home based volunteer position, home access to email and internet is a requirement.
