training of trainers.

Street Kids International works with youth workers as our primary entry to impact the lives of youth. Using a Training of Trainers model, Street Kids’ tools and methodologies are shared and disseminated to reach a wide scope and range of professionals working with and impacting the lives of young people.

Our toolkits are used most effectively when youth workers participate in intensive training to gain experience with the materials and methodology. This training includes live role-modeling, observations, debriefings, reflections, and practice opportunities. Specifically, youth workers first observe the course being facilitated in its entirety with a group of youth. Then youth workers deliver the course themselves with another group of youth. During the training, youth workers have opportunities to ask questions, discuss opinions, and seek guidance as necessary.

Master Trainers

Street Kids International consistently seeks to foster and develop local groups of trainers in each country in order to strengthen the capacity of local NGOs in the implementation of successful and effective learning opportunities for youth. From the initial contact with national youth workers, Street Kids and its partners begin to identify individual trainers and organizations, which could be part of a national team of Master Trainers.

Factors that are considered when selecting Master Trainers include: understanding of the content; ability to deliver the material; experience and ability to work with youth and facilitate peers; a representation of the diverse organizations and genders; personal or professional commitments which might affect their ability to commit to long trainings.
