Street Kids Direct have been able to help support the Mi Arca project in Guatemala City by providing a youth centre for its work with street-living and high-risk children and youth.

The new centre opened its doors in November 2015 with a visit from The British Ambassador and the support of many local organisations and churches and will be a base for the new mentoring programme.  The centre will offer accommodation space for a staff worker as well as an office and training centre for the full-time staff and volunteers.

The vision for the centre came fomr the experiences of mentoring young people on the streets and not having a base to work from for the daily street outreach as well as a space for an office.

Thanks to the support of a Street Kids Direct donor we have been able to rent the building for a year while the donor completes the process of buying the building and will then allow to have the building free-of-charge for up to 10 years.

Check out the video we made just before we moved into the building and then compare that to the photos below!

There are still some outstanding costs to cover and if you feel you can help us make a difference with a gift via our event fundraising page with BT Giving we would be most grateful.
